1-TEAM’s BEEP PROGRAM Managing Director / Founder
Mr. Atty. Vigor Mendoza II
-
“We would like everyone to see that CHANGE IS COMING, and CHANGE IS COMING FAST.”
The BEEP Program is a Jeepney Modernization and Effective Utilization Program under the company 1-Team with a goal to advance and support members of a unified transport system.
-
A big change in the transportation system
"Our aim is to not only modernize and make the public transportation of the Philippines more efficient, but to also uplift the lives of the transportation workers. By providing a much better service for a reasonable price, people can enjoy a hassle-free commute and, at the same time, we can compensate the transit workers better."
1-Team hopes that everyone will be open to the changes that modernization brings. "Modernization, especially in the transportation sector, is not something to be feared as there are plenty of employment opportunities awaiting those welcome to change."
-
Not a battle between JEEP and BEEP, but a progression
Jeepney, dubbed as "The King of the Philippine Roads", definitely has had little or none of the upgrades it deserves. Vehicle-related problems such as pollution, traffic, and accidents come from the cost-inefficent operation and poor vehicle maintenance. These are issues that 1-Team wants to address and provide a solution to.
The BEEP Program aims to have 100 units of BEEPS running in the cities of Cebu, Mandaue, and Lapu-Lapu within the year. The units are expected to be spacious, air-conditioned, and equipped with GPS to ensure the passengers' comfort and safety. All units are also equipped with single-type seats, an automated fare system, a CCTV camera, and a tracking mobile application that allows passengers to reserve seats, as well as monitor the arrival for an efficient daily commute.
"The hardest part of modernization is not the vehicle nor the application, but the mindset of the people from both sides - the transit and the passenger. When the transportation system implements rules, passengers must follow through. Everything progresses smoothly when everyone cooperates and respects not only the people, but also the rules and the signs. For us to modernize quickly, we also need the help and cooperation of the passengers.”
