    Being one of the most celebrated names in Cebu's food industry, no one would ever think that the well-known Grand Convention Center actually started as a high-end music bar 25 years ago. Over time, they have established their brand by creating three of the most-esteemed restaurants in the city: Grand Majestic Buffet Restaurant, Tsay Cheng Chinese Restaurant, and Isla Sugbu Seafood City. All three restaurants are designed for celebrating life's best occasions, each with their own unique concepts and authentic flavors.

  • Working with passion.

    With all three restaurants having won Best of Cebu, Ms. Cantos shared about how with great success comes great responsibility. “People management is definitely a continual challenge and trial-and-error. So, I make sure that we have a clear direction, that there is transparency, and that all of my team is involved so everyone can shine.” She added “we should have passion in everything we do. I look at every challenge as an opportunity, and every opportunity as an advantage.” As for overseeing all three restaurants, some of the key elements she focuses on are responding to people’s demands from surveys and quality service assurance.

  • A place of family traditions.

    Throughout the years, the Grand Convention Center has been witness to many of people’s important life celebrations: weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, just to name a few. “Families spanning generations just keep on coming back here and we love hosting their special occasions. Seeing the happiness on their faces, feeling the joy in the air, being a part of their traditions makes it all worthwhile.” She then shared with excitement “we are looking at expanding throughout the country in the next year!” And with the booming tourism industry in Cebu, Grand Convention is continuing to capture the hearts of many foreign and local diners alike.
