Choobi Choobi Owner
Mr. C. Tanchan
-
Aiming for growth – the key for both business and social contribution.
From its catchy, familiar jingle on the radio, to its friendly little shrimp logo, Choobi Choobi is a casual restaurant made for families.
Always an enjoyable dining experience. Though their name comes from the Fujian word for “to enjoy”, Choobi Choobi offers mainly home cooked Filipino food, with their pride being their shrimp. The shrimp are raised on their own farm so this place is home to the freshest, yet most affordable, shrimp feast in town. -
Finding inspiration
“My father used to have a pig farm, so I was inspired to take the plunge and have my own. That’s when I started my prawn and shrimp farming”, Mr. Tanchan shared when asked about his earlier years in the business.
“Farming is fun. It is something I enjoy doing”, he added. Beginning his passion for prawn and shrimp farming way back in 1988, Mr. Tanchan has decided to venture into the food business industry, thus opening the very first Choobi Choobi in Parkmall in 2013. In the span of five year, Choobi Choobi has grown into an incredibly popular family restaurant with their current 26 branches, located in key cities across the country.
With this success, he also has established two other restaurants named Kogi Q and Stan’s Tinolahan + Grill, each with their own unique flavors. -
Persevering amid the challenges.
“As the business expands, our lives get busier but, I always believe in the importance of enjoying what I’m doing and being able to help people”, he shared.
As to how he manages to be on top of business, he answered “Faith in God and perseverance are the keys. Business is not always a success, there are ups and downs, but you can’t give up easily.”
Aiming to bring an affordable and enjoyable dining experience to more people, Mr. Tanchan is confident about expanding his business in the neighboring cities.
