• PeoplesJeep – Travelling in Cebu the modern way

  Accompanied by the goal of proving an efficient and environmentally friendly transportation system by 2020, the government launched the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP). With this, Cebu Peoples Coop, one of the biggest and multi-awarded cooperatives nationwide, joined the PUV modernization and launched PeoplesJeep. PeoplesJeep has a seating capacity of 23 – 35 passengers, it is also environmentally friendly. It uses electric, solar or alternative fuel, it has a security camera, speed limiter and is air-conditioned giving each passenger security and comfort. Currently there are 15 units deployed in Cebu City. With three routes going Talamban-Ayala-Colon, Lahug-Ayala-SM and Bulacao-Colon-SM. Cebu Peoples Coop hopes to provide marginalized jeepney driver and small-time operators all the opportunities to continue their means of livelihood through this crucial transition. Thus they are looking for more players in the industry to help the fulfillment of this program.

  The Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway began on July 18, 2019. This Php30 billion project will feature two lanes in each direction features will include viaduct approach bridges in Cebu City and Cordova sides, CSCR on and off ramps, causeway and toll plaza. This bridge is expected to serve 50, 000 vehicles daily, this will also give Cordova a direct access to Cebu City. It is envisioned to help he congested traffic situation in the old anew bridge and will give motorist a faster route from Mactan to Cebu City. As of now, there are 1,519 personnel have been fielded for the construction of the CCLEX project. The construction for the third bridge is expected to wrap up by August 2021, and is just in time for the commemoration of the 500th year of Christianity of the Philippines.
