DOLE stated that the specified skill fields include healthcare, building maintenance, food services, industrial machinery, electronics, food manufacturing, agriculture, hospitality, construction, shipbuilding, fisheries and aquaculture, parts and tooling, and aviation. Passing the skill level tests and proficiency in Japanese are main requirements in order to be hired as a skilled worker in Japan.

We're also catering to ferries for passengers, as well as cargoes and Roros," President and Chief Executive Officer of the Topline Group of Companies, Eugene Erik Lim stated during the groundbreaking. He also added, "Right now, tourism is actually situated in Mactan. So, we want to spread the sunshine to Metro Cebu." Moreover, the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Pier 88 Ventures Inc., Kyle Gregory Uy, talked about how the development of the port may serve as a point of connection. The target for the port development completion is within six to nine months, or by the end of the year. After the completion of this project, travel time will be cut from the usual 2 hours by land to 30-45 minutes by sea.
