THE BEEPS (Bus-Jeepney) ~A New Phase in Cebu’s Local Transportation~

With so many vehicles coming & going every day, traffic
congestion in Cebu is inevitable.
At the end of last year, the route bus “BEEP” was born.
It’s attracting attention as a new public transportation system to help alleviate traffic congestion.

Cebu City is plagued by traffic jams with jeepneys, taxis, and private cars.

Safe and convenient!

Bus-Jeepneys, or BEEPs, are a modernized version of jeepneys/PUJ (Public Utility Jeepneys) and are now seen carrying passengers around Cebu City, 24 hours a day.BEEPs aim to make the daily commute of the Cebuanos much more convenient, safe, comfortable, and efficient.

Hassle-free rides

Commuters don’t need to worry anymore about getting sweaty inside public transportation as all BEEP units are spacious, fully air-conditioned, and tidy. Passengers can also enjoy other perks, like watching TV programs or movies, while commuting since all BEEPs come with a flat screen TV.

With a flat screen TV, you may not want to get off at your destination!

Easily Accessible

BEEPs are currently serving two routes with 36 stops and are hoping to add another route to reduce waiting time and to serve more passengers in different parts of the city. Accessibility-wise, the two routes pass malls, government offices, business parks, and tourist spots. This way, passengers don’t need to worry about making a few transfers just to reach their destination.

You can ride for P8 for the first 5km, then only P1.20 more every 1km after that.

Lessen traffic jams

It’s said that all BEEP units will strictly follow the designated stops in order to help alleviate the city’s traffic situation. This new mode of transportation will hopefully encourage vehicle-owners to travel via BEEP, instead of driving to their destination. Fewer private cars on the road will most likely lead to less pollution, fewer expenses, and especially less traffic.

Cebu’s major hubs are accessible by BEEPs!

Currently, 20 BEEP units are running on each of the two servicing routes. The first route is from Cebu City Hall to Cebu Asiatown IT Park via Robinsons Galleria Cebu and Cebu Business Park, and vice versa. The second route is from Duterte Street to SYKES via Happy Valley, Fuente Osmena, Ramos St. D. Jakosalem Street, Cebu Business Park, and vice versa.
